Monogram maker
Two or three initials, set in a classic, interlaced, circle, stacked or dotted layout and framed in a circle, lozenge, shield or laurel wreath.
Making a monogram
Type one letter in each box; the middle initial is optional. With Surname in the middle, a three-letter monogram follows the classic layout for one person: first-name initial on the left, the larger surname initial in the centre, middle initial on the right, so Elizabeth Rose Carter becomes E C R. Choose As typed for a couple's initials or any order you prefer.
Styles. Classic sets the centre letter larger. Row with dots puts equal letters between two rules. Interlaced overlaps the letters and cuts a thin gap where they cross. Circle stretches the letters to fill a circle, like an embroidered towel. Stacked pairs one large letter with two small ones.
Downloads. The letters are drawn as vector outlines, so the SVG looks the same everywhere and suits engraving, embroidery software and cutting machines. The PNG is 1,200 pixels square, with a transparent background if you choose one. Your settings are kept in this browser.

Questions
Which initial goes in the middle?
In the classic single-person layout, the surname. For two people sharing a surname, a common choice is the shared initial in the middle with the two first-name initials either side: use As typed.
Why is my letter missing?
The lettering covers A to Z and the common Western European accented capitals. Letters outside that set, such as Ł or Ő, are not in the font: use the plain letter instead.
Can I use the monogram commercially?
Yes, the design is yours. Almendra and Noto Serif are released under the SIL Open Font License, which allows using their letters in artwork.
